The Definition of Heresy

This is not original to me; I came across it a number of years ago when I was struggling with the idea of converting to Catholicism. It is a bit caustic, but it is exactly what I needed at the time so I pray it might help someone else in the same way (of course, this applies not only to non-catholics, but also to any Catholic who disagrees with an official Church doctrine--so take note).


Heresy: that special moment when you have greater spiritual insight than the Apostles, Disciples, Apostolic Fathers, the Church, and the Magisterium because you have a Bible that they wrote, compiled, and gave to you.

A high ranking Catholic clergyman commented recently regarding the obsession people have today with inclusiveness. Almost everyone seems to demand that we "include" this group or that group, as though

"You refuse to believe what people from 2000 years ago say happened 2000 years ago, but you're willing to believe what someone from today says happened 4 billion years ago?"
