Unanswered Prayer

How do you deal with it when God does not answer your prayers the way you want? Sometimes He might just say "not now" and sometimes He says "no, never". Yet, when we pray we have an idea in our mind about what is best and what we want Him to do. The way in which we approach the prayers in the first place makes all the difference.

If we approach our prayers with the presumption that we know the best way for God to answer them, there is a good chance (a very good chance) that He will not answer it the way we want. If, however, we approach the prayers with the attitude of, "Lord, I think this is best, but you alone know what is truly best. Please answer this prayer as I have asked, unless there is a better way to bring about what is good and right".

You may already use these words when you pray. Whether you do, or you do not, make sure that the attitude is in your heart. Make sure that you acknowledge God might very well already be working something out to provide you with the solution to your situation. Your humility in prayer, is the only way to avoid being upset at God, and it leads to more wisdom when you pray.
