Those Who Secretly Enter In

Writer: Fr. SeraiahFr. Seraiah

Is it possible that there are "catholics" sitting in the pews who are actually pagans disquised at catholics, who are sent in by the devil to confuse the minds and corrupt the morals of God's people? Now that may sound extreme, but it is not. In the New Testament book of Jude we read:

"For admission has been secretly gained by some who long ago were designated for this condemnation, ungodly persons who pervert the grace of our God into licentiousness and deny our only Master and Lord, Jesus Christ."

The Douay translation puts it as:

"certain men are secretly entered in (who were written of long ago unto this judgment), ungodly men, turning the grace of our Lord God into riotousness and denying the only sovereign Ruler and our Lord Jesus Christ."

Now, I do not want you to all of a sudden get suspicious of everyone in the church who does not match your "perfect catholic" paradigm. Yet, we would be foolish if we ignored the reality that this happened before, and since the devil is rarely original, he will do it again--likely in our day.

We have to admit that it is possible that many of these who are attacking the historic faith from within the Church are possibly "not one of us". St. John mentions (in the first letter of John) that there were some who were not really "one of them" who eventually left the parish. Of course they leave! They cannot stand the faith, and they are eventually caught in their sin and are driven out (by faithful priests). Yes these people may have been "baptized", and received other sacraments (to their condemnation), but they have intentionally joined to cause disruption in the parish.

This may sound scary, but it is a very good possibility that it is happening today, especially when you see the diabolical nature of the things that so many (even some clergy) are promoting in the Church today. Who would have ever thought a Bishop would forbid a faithful Catholic from receiving communion while kneeling? This is an abomination influenced by demons. The reality is that this is exactly the way that the devil works today: subversively.

In another place Jesus refers to the "wheat and the tares" and says that they both remain until the end of history. Not all the "wolves in sheep's clothing" are clergy; some are sitting right there in the pews. We cannot be afraid of them. Christ knows who they are and promises to protect us from their evil devices as long as we submit to Him.
