Things to Run Away From (2)

(Motorcycle illustration to follow...) I recall once someone who asked on an internet forum for a picture of the "window sticker" for a 2016 Honda CMX 500. There are major problems here. First, the Honda CMX 500 is a motorcycle and not a car, so it does not have a "window sticker" like cars do. Second, the CMX 500 was not manufactured in 2016. Lesson to be learned: if someone is selling a 2016 Honda CMX 500 run away from them, as he does not know what he is doing. Point for today: if you do not have the background information on a subject you can easily be misled.
This is what makes it so easy for the faithful to be misled by bad clergy. I wish I did not even have to write a post like this one, but the days we live in are filled with error; even from those who are supposed to lead the people in the truth. So, I write to save your souls. Yet, even with these confusions, there are a few things that should be clear to even the most casual observer (or even to the child) are incorrect and we can watch for them. Today, I want you to consider a blatantly obvious sign of trouble: Priests who refuse to genuflect to the Sacramental Body of Jesus in the Tabernacle. I have seen this a number of times, and people have told me about it as well.
I certainly am not referring to those older Priests who are physically incapable of making a proper genuflection (though, most of them will still make a profound bow, or some clear sign of reverence). I myself was unable to genuflect for two months after having knee surgery a few years back; that is not the type of situation I am pointing out. It is those Priests who are perfectly capable, and when passing in front of the tabernacle they still refuse to genuflect in worship of our Lord.
I even heard someone tell me once about a Priest who said that he was not going to "scrape and grovel" because that was the "old way" that is now done away with (I kid you not). I do not know that Priest (and hope I do not meet him) but it is hard to understand that words like that do not stem from a heart of pride and self delusion.
It is not only during the Mass that we are to genuflect to our Lord, but whenever we pass in front of the tabernacle. Even if you have to find something to grab hold of, it is required. Yes, it takes longer to get to where you are going, but this is the actual physical body of God; do not skip adoring Him. In fact, the old practice (that I strongly suggest you follow) is to cross oneself when you pass in front of a Catholic Church because the tabernacle is in there somewhere (even if they hid it in a back corner, it is still Jesus).
Any Priest who walks around the nave or chancel as though he were at home, never once showing reverence toward our Lord Jesus has something deeply wrong in his heart. The Eucharist is the "sum and summit" of our faith, and that goes beyond words. It must be so in our hearts and minds; it must show itself in our every action. If you know of a Priest who does this, then you need to Run Away quickly. If he does not love God enough to reverence His physical presence on Earth, then what is he worshiping as God?
