That Commencement Speech

Apparently, a man who plays professional sports (who happens to be a devout Catholic) gave a college commencement speech (at a Catholic college) recently and has caused quite a stir over the things he said. His name is Harrison Butker, and he plays for a sports team in Kansas City (I think it is football -- I'm pretty sure that's the one with the oblong brown ball).

Many people are quite upset about what he said, and are posting things all over the internet criticizing and condemning him. Many are calling for him to be fired. Numerous Catholics have come out and spoken against him saying that he does not represent them. Although I really could not care less about football, I find it necessary to give a formal response to his words so that there are no misunderstandings; I do not want anyone to imagine that I am complicit with errant views of the Catholic faith.

It is sad that I have to do this, because I do not like disagreeing with any of my Catholic brethren--we should all be in agreement about these essential aspects of our beliefs. But, here goes: to Mr. Harrison Butker:

AMEN! May the Lord bless you and keep you.
