St. Lawrence

Each year I enjoy reminding people of St. Lawrence and how he died (bear with me a minute if you have not heard this before...). He was burned alive on a "grill" (keep hanging in there). At one point he said "Turn me over, I'm done on this side!" I am not joking; but he was. In one way, he still is not done. He is still giving us the example of enduring the sufferings of this world and laughing in the face of the pagans who try to destroy us.

Today is the feast day of St. Lawrence, and we do well to remember his spirit. St. Lawrence pray for us that we too can endure suffering, and rather than whine like babies, that we can stand fast and acknowledge that nothing in this world can keep us from the love of Christ.
