No Sin is "Legal"

Is the majority always right? In fact, I hope you already know, that very often the majority is wrong. Deciding things by a majority vote is not always a good idea, and only works well when the majority is holy and faithful. If, however, the majority wants something evil then they will choose that evil. This is, sadly, what happened in our home state of Missouri yesterday. The majority of people (by a very narrow margin!) chose to call down the wrath of God on us (to put it lightly) by approving an amendment that calls for the slaughter of the unborn (yes, I am choosing my words carefully). They still have to file a suit in court to make it effective (and we can pray something fails in that), so it is not a completely "done deal".

So then, one way to look at this is to say that "slaying unborn children in Missouri is going to be legal". Yet, that would be inaccurate. Murder is always illegal, regardless of whether it is an adult, a child, or an unborn child. Murder is fully prosecuted and no one gets away with it; ever. Now, to be clear: the state government might not punish someone for this heinous act, but that does not make it "legal". The problem, of course, is whether you think of "legal" as referring to the state, or to our Divine Creator. A state law which says no one can be punished for committing a crime (like murder) is a wicked law and it does not change the fact that God's law says that abortion is always murder, and the unrepentant are always punished for their crimes (whether we see it or not).

No act of a President, Congress, or an individual state can change what God's law says, and they cannot make something that is truly illegal to be legal merely because they get a bunch of people to love death. Their sin will come down on their own heads, and it is time to pray some serious imprecatory prayers against those who are seeking to justify their sin. We may have lost this specific battle, but we can take confidence that we will win the war--because King Jesus is still on His throne. Lord have mercy upon us.
