The plans for the upcoming Synod on Synodicalness have been released, and (thank God) they do not seem to include the allowance for the uncatholic subjects of women's ordination, the acceptance of sodomy, or the like. We can thank God that those who want these immoralities to be up for discussion will need to work a bit harder in their efforts to undermine the One, Holy, Catholic, and Apostolic Church.
I have already pointed out how talking endlessly about stuff that should never be open for discussion is so Protestant it is sickening. This is exactly how those of us who used to be involved in Protestant denominations saw them destroying themselves. When the Catholic Church tries to wander down the same path of destruction, it is certainly disheartening.
I watched the development of this synod-ish attitude over the past few years and it makes it much more clear what the real problem is. People want to spend more time focusing on themselves than on Christ. For someone truly to desire to have an entire synod for people to sit around and chat about themselves and what they "really want" (with the frequent "affirmation" of each other and the occasional "pat on the back" of support), proves that he is not listening to what really matters!
Once the Church recognizes again that what matters is not what "people want" but rather what "people need", then, and only then, can we move forward. Our Holy Father warns us about looking back to the past. The tower of Babel is in the past, and that is where men gathered together in unity against God and He ended it by confusing their speech so that they could get nowhere.
They had said to God, "leave us alone so we can find our own unity". We know how that ended up. If catholics come together to ignore the clear 2000 year old testimony of what we are supposed to be doing, and choose instead to say to God, "leave us alone so we can figure out what we really want the Church to be", then we cannot expect things to go any better.
