Ignorance is Bliss

The vast majority of Protestants that I come across are completely ignorant of what Catholicism really is. They have either read something that completely misrepresents things (like Lorraine Boettner's horrible book or any Jack Chick publication) or they have only met Catholics who are bad representations of what it means to be Catholic. Many of them express distaste for, and anger against, the Catholic Church, and specifically against the Pope himself, and yet they rarely know or understand just what they are fighting against. This is, to a certain degree, to their benefit. If one knowingly rejects the Catholic faith it is a danger to his soul. Most of them, today, are rejecting an errant view of the Catholic faith, and most of these errors are things that Catholics reject as well! In my day, I have heard numerous ridiculous misrepresentations of Catholic teaching; they are all over the place. Let us each seek to do our part to teach these confused people what the Church actually saysthe truth and help them to find the fulness of the truth of Christ.
