Catholics Against the Church

I heard another sad story recently about someone who was rebuked by a priest for being faithful to the Church. He was told by this priest (who should be flogged) that he was foolish for believing that when the Bible said that God created the world in seven days, that it was true. Now, in the long run it does not matter what the priest believed about creation. What matters is that no priest should ever tell one of the faithful that he is foolish for accepting something that every Catholic believed without hesitation for the first eighteen centuries of Church history!
If a priest (or anyone, for that matter) thinks he is smarter than the Church because he read a textbook in high school (written by an atheist!) and is suddenly privy to a new revelation, then he is not a faithful Catholic. Yes, I know that there are numerous Catholics who believe things contrary to the traditional teachings of the Church, but the burden of proof is on them, not on those who simply say, "the Church said it, so I believe it". Only the latter are truly faithful to the Magisterium.
Technically, anything that the Church has ever said authoritatively, has the high ground. Any "modern" disagreements with statements of the Church need to be affirmed by the Church before they are accepted; a bunch of scientists, or some other self-proclaimed authorities, do not have the authority to negate Church teaching. It is a pagan view that allows this to happen. If we profess to be Catholic, then we must not only behave like Catholics, we must think like Catholics. The Church is inspired by Christ; she alone has authority to require absolute belief in all she says. Every one else has to prove themselves.
