Careless Words

What if on Judgment Day, every text you ever wrote, every post you ever made, every email you ever sent, was opened up and and read out loud as a determination of your spiritual state? Can you think of any you might be embarrassed about?

If you use any kind of social media, it is not exempt from your record. "Every careless word" Jesus says will be judged (either spoken or written counts!). Far too many people think of their activity on the internet as just gone once they send or post. I think it might be because we do not have to look people in the face when we do it; that is not a good thing.

I recall a soldier once telling me that it is not that hard to drop a bomb from a plane, but lifting your gun and shooting someone you are looking in the eye is much harder. Same principle. Let us not let the "anonymity" of the internet or our cellphones make us weak in our obedience to God. Love those you interact with; all of them.
