A Healthy Distrust

I have always had a healthy distrust in those who are immersed in scientific euphoria. Then, after the Covid farce that was thrown on us, I found it even harder to trust those in the medical and pharmaceutical establishments. Now I am reading a book on astronomy (a fascinating subject!), and finding that most in that field have foisted on society one bad theory after another. You may disagree with me (that is fine, this is not an issue of Catholic dogma), but no one can disagree that our Lord wants us to be cautious about trusting anything or anyone other than Him in the absolute sense.
How quick are you to trust what science tells you today (be careful; it will change its theories pretty soon, but will not tell you about it!)? Do not take it for granted that doctors have all the answers. Some of them may want you to think that they do (although I know a few who have their heads on straight and know that they are not divine!), but God does not want you to think that way. There was a time about 75 years ago when medical professionals were thought of as infallible; my grandparents thought like this. Today, our Lord is giving us all a healthy dose of reality. He is showing us that we are to "have no other gods before Him".
So, you do not necessarily need to have us much hesitation as I do, but you cannot presume that their current theories will never be replaced by the newest "idea" that they come up with (remember, people once believed that blood-letting helped cure numerous diseases!). If we seek properly to put our full trust in God alone, then we will be able to trust those things in creation that He wants us to trust with a properly balanced trust (without the presumption of blind sheep). We should be thankful for doctors and scientists and the help they can give us, yes; but only God should receive our unquestioning submission.
