Something Is Not Right When...

While reading a news report out of Rome about some things that certain clergy have said recently (including some of the highest rank...), I was (once again) stunned at how non-catholic their views are. This is likely more obvious to those who are steeped in ancient Catholic writings, like things from waaaay back a hundred years ago (yes, there is a note of sarcasm there), but less obvious to those who refuse to read anything before 1965 because they think that the Church reached a peak of holiness at that point in time. I have been thinking even more so lately about how slowly certain corruptions have crept into the Church, and I realized that many of them might not even be noticed for that very reason. Here are some things to consider:

When Catholics are more concerned with saving the environment than saving souls...

When Catholics are more concerned with being physically healthy than being spiritually healthy...

When Catholics are more concerned with worldly technology than eternal reality...

When Catholics encourage immorality in the name of being "merciful" or "inclusive"...

When Catholics promote doctrinal compromise in the name of being "ecumenical" or "pastoral"...

When Catholics encourage changing the Catholic faith rather than suffering for the faith...

...the Devil has already gotten his foot in the door of their hearts (and he will not leave easily).
